Automotive business changes hand

Juhring retires after 21 years

DALLAS -- John Juhring has been the owner/operator of John's Auto Service in Dallas for the past 21 years.

Juhring, with an eye toward retirement, recently sold his interest in the business to Robby and Lisa Young of Dallas. But if the Youngs have their way, customers might not even notice the difference.

"What we're trying to do is keep everything about the same as John had it to make it easier on the customer," Lisa Young said.

"We're keeping manager Doug Brown and John part-time if we can talk him into staying. We want to keep everything running as smoothly and as normal as we can for the customers."

Robby Young previously worked for Pacific Highway Auto Care in Monmouth and an auto dealership in Corvallis. Lisa Young also has about five years' experience in the automotive industry.

Not surprisingly, Juhring and the Youngs initially made contact at an auto parts store.

"My husband found out about it, and we started talking," Lisa Young said. "John has an excellent reputation. We came and looked at his shop, and we decided to buy it."

Juhring, for his part, seems agreeable to working a few hours a week at the business -- at least until it's time for wife Suzette to retire.

"I'll probably work part-time for a while," he said. "When my wife can retire, we plan on doing some traveling."
