The Eighth Annual Dallas Food Bank Golf Tournament is coming Sept. 10.

The Eighth Annual Dallas Food Bank Golf Tournament begins at 1 p.m. Sept. 10 at Cross Creek Golf Course

. Entry fee for the four-person scramble is $60 and includes 18 holes of golf, gifts, prizes, barbecue dinner, refreshments, team photos and range balls. The event is sponsored by Trinity Lutheran Church and Thrivent Financial Services. It has raised more than $22,000 for the food bank in the past seven years. A fundraiser golf tournament for The Gate will be held Sept. 16 at Oak Knoll Golf Course

. The Gate is a community youth center to be built in Independence. The entry fee for the four-person scramble is $60 per player or $70 after AUG. 26. The Salem Volleyball Association is searching for individuals 18 years of age and older interested in officiating high school volleyball during the upcoming season

A benefit golf tournament for the Central wrestling team begins at 5 p.m. Aug. 25 at Oak Knoll Golf Course

Dallas High School will host two volleyball camps this summer

. Girls entering grades 9-12 will meet Aug. 14-18 from 9 a.m.-noon at DHS. Girls entering grades 6-8 will meet Aug. 14-17 from 1:30 p.m.-3:30 p.m. at DHS. The cost for each session is $40 per person. Registration for Central Youth Sports fall soccer is underway through Aug. 23

. Register in the CYS office, 169 S. Broad St. in Monmouth, or on-line at centralyouthsports.com. The CYS office is open Wednesdays from 6 p.m.-8 p.m. The cost is $30 for those in kindergarten and $40 for grades 1-8.

Sign-ups for athletes involved in Dallas High School fall sports will be held from Aug. 16-18

. Practice starts Aug. 21. All fees and paperwork must be submitted by 3 p.m. Aug. 18 to be eligible to participate in practice Aug. 21. All incoming freshmen and athletes who did not get a physical last year are required to get one before participating in athletics during the 2006-2007 school year. The 13th Annual Dallas Quarterback Club Golf Tournament will be played Aug. 19 at Dallas Golf Club

. The four-person scramble begins with a 9 a.m. shotgun start. The entry fee is $55 per person or $50 for Dallas Golf Club annual members. The field is limited to the first 52 paid entrants. Individual and team entries will be accepted. All proceeds benefit youth and school football programs in Dallas. The Monmouth-Independence Chamber of Commerce Fifth Annual Golf Tournament is set for Sept. 9 at Oak Knoll Golf Course, 6335 Highway 22

. The 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. event, open to all, is a scramble with a shotgun start. The entry fee of $65 includes green fee, golf cart and lunch. The Second Annual Willamette Valley Golf Tournament will be played Sept. 13 at Langdon Farms Golf Course

. Proceeds from the tournament benefit Partnerships in Community Living. Registration begins at 6:45 a.m. Play in the best-ball tournament will begin with a 7:45 a.m. shotgun start. Tryouts for the Breakers 12-under softball team will be held Aug. 24 and Aug. 26 at Talmadge Middle School

. To be eligible, girls must be 12 years of age or younger as of Dec. 31, 2006. Pitchers and catchers will meet from 5:30 p.m.-6:30 p.m. Aug. 24 and 9 a.m.-10 a.m. Aug. 26. All players will meet from 6:30 p.m.-8 p.m. Aug. 24 and 10 a.m.-noon Aug. 26. A parent must be present at the beginning of the tryout. All players should bring their own softball gear and water. Dallas Football Camp will be held at the high school during mid-August in two sessions

. Grades 2-6 will meet from Aug. 7-11. Practices will be from 6 p.m.-8 p.m. Grades 7-12 will meet from Aug. 14-18. The Western Oregon University 2006-2007 Golf Pass now is available

. The card costs $30 and is good for two-for-one green fees and other discounts at 24 Oregon golf courses, including Auburn Center, Battle Creek, Meadowlawn and Salem Golf Club in Salem, Willow Lake in Keizer and Oak Knoll, west of Salem on Highway 22. Central has several openings on its coaching staff

. CHS is seeking a head coach for the dance team, a head coach for the rally team, a head coach for the baseball team, a head boys and girls golf coach and an assistant coach for the boys basketball team. Central hopes to fill the openings as soon as possible. Applicants should be American Sports Education Program certified and have a valid first aid card. The third Easy Summer Dallas Bike Ride is scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 12

Kids, Inc. softball is selling wine barrel planters to raise funds for the field development of the Lyle Elementary School complex
