MONMOUTH -- The Monmouth Parks & Recreation Board is accepting grant applications for 2007.
Forms are available at Monmouth City Hall and online at www.ci.monmouth.or.us. Completed applications should be turned in at Monmouth City Hall.
"This program was created after the loss of our Parks & Recreation director," said former Board Chair Jessica Miller. "We hope this money will encourage and support recreational activities and projects by individuals and non-profit organizations in Monmouth."
The board has $3,000 to grant to individuals or organizations for recreational activities in Monmouth for the 2007 funding cycle.
Activities must take place on city property or park land, or other public property located within city limits. The activity must be open to all Monmouth residents, although age-specific activities and projects are permitted.
The board will consider the following factors in the evaluation process: the number and types of benefiting residents, applicant's ability to carry out the project, partnerships with area non-profits and established organizations, future costs or benefits associated with the project, and amount of matching funds available.
Past grantees include:
* Monmouth Business Association, for Concerts in the Park.
* The 24-Hour COmmunity Relay.
* Monmouth-Independence YMCA, for Youth Fishing Day.
