Kids' clown school offered

A Dallas Community Activities clown school for kids will begin on Wednesday, April 9, at Oakdale Heights Elementary in the multipurpose room.

A Dallas Community Activities clown school for kids will begin on Wednesday, April 9, at Oakdale Heights Elementary in the multipurpose room.

The class, held from 3 to 4:30 p.m., is open to all students in grades 3-5. Two sessions are scheduled: one in April that meets for four consecutive Wednesdays (April 9, 16, 23 and 30), and a second that meets on the first three Wednesdays in May (7, 14 and 21).

Participants will learn skills in clown makeup and wardrobe, juggling balls and scarves, tying balloon creations, and general clowning around.

Cost is $25 per session, plus a $10 materials fee. Partial need-based scholarships are available.

Students will also have the opportunity to perform at the Dallas Community Showcase, tentatively scheduled for Wednesday, May 21.
