Schools honor grads

This past weekend, the classes of 2008 at Central High School and Dallas High School celebrated the end of one chapter of their lives and the beginning of another.

Families and friends filled the stands of the new P.E. Building at Western Oregon University in Monmouth on May 30 to recognize outgoing seniors at Central High and wish them luck in their future endeavors.

One-hundred and sixty out of the 163 students who received diplomas this year took part in the commencement ceremony.

Earning 4.0 GPAs and sharing co-valedictorian honors were Kiaya Marie Gray, Jeffrey Austin Gratreak, Molly Ann Mack, Elizabeth Dangyang Shepard, Patience Loree Stepp, Chloe Rose Takacs, and George Stephen Taray III.

Kodiak Bisson Atwood was salutatorian.

In Dallas, a capacity crowd piled into the stadium at Gallaspy Field to say goodbye to Dallas High's 220 seniors. Five graduating students from Morrison Charter School also walked in the ceremony.

Co-valedictorians were Meghan Keck, Megan Lytle, Lance Baker, Patrick Moynahan, Audrey Drake, Sarah Fast and Clara Richardson. Alyssa Goertzen and Robin Jenkins earned salutatorian honors.
