Salem police received a report of a bank robbery at 11 a.m. Saturday at Chase Bank at 480 Glen Creek Road NW. The suspect entered the bank, handed a teller a note, received an undisclosed amount of cash and fled the scene in a car, according to police.
A Polk County Sheriff's Deputy spotted the suspect's vehicle traveling northbound on Wallace Road near the intersection with Brush College Road about seven minutes later, police said.
The suspect, James N. Flowers, 63, was stopped near the entrance to Wheatland Ferry and taken into custody without incident. The stolen money was recovered.
