RICKREALL -- A weekend full of remodeling, decorating and gardening ideas and answers can be found at the 2009 Polk Home and Garden Show.

The Polk County Fairgrounds in Rickreall is the site for the show, which returns for a second year bigger and better than last year.

Three days of seminars, vendors, merchandise, exhibits, advice and more is scheduled May 15-17. Show hours are 1 to 8 p.m. on Friday, May 15; 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, May 16; and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, May 17.

"The show is designed to help inspire attendees with everything from home decorating and remodeling ideas to addressing that special project waiting in your yard or garden," said Deb Thomas, show coordinator.

Plants and flowers, the latest in home furnishings and appliances, energy saving ideas and more will be available.

"We have a whole bunch of new vendors and a lot of interest in the show," said Thomas. "We had a good first-year response from vendors and visitors to the show, and that should result in a bigger and better show this year."

Thomas said about 50 vendors will be on hand this year, including the popular Bird House Factory from last year's show and several who are touting green technology.

Among the highlights of this year's show are daily seminars from a variety of home and gardening experts. Topics include chain saw safety, do-it-yourself laminate floors, and heating systems operation and maintenance.

Thomas also noted that the Northwest G Railroad Club will have a display set up in the Arts and Crafts Building of the fairgrounds demonstrating how to incorporate a model railroad into a backyard garden.

Admission to the show is $3, with children 16 and under admitted free. Parking is also free. The fairgrounds is located at 520 S. Pacific Highway (99W) in Rickreall.

The show is coordinated by Polk Productions.
