DALLAS -- Oregon State University Extension Service will host an informational meeting in Dallas on Wednesday, May 12, regarding the invasive Spotted Wing Drosophila fly.
The free presentation will start at 7 p.m. in room 212 of the Academy Building, 182 SW Academy St. It will feature experts from OSU who are involved in combatting the fruit fly, which can damage several varieties of fruit crops.
Scientists from Oregon, Washington and California recently received a $5.8 million grant from the U.S. Department of Agriculture to study the insect and devise ways to deal with it.
