MONMOUTH -- Western Oregon senior free safety Bryce Peila has been named a preseason first team All-American by Beyond Sports Network and teammates Gavin Drake and Scotland Foss were each placed on the honorable mention team.

Peila, a Crater High grad, had nine interceptions, 58 tackles (31 solo) and 13 pass deflections for the Wolves last season. Those nine interceptions tied for second in NCAA Division II and Peila was named to three All-American teams as well as the Great Northwest Athletic Conference first team.

Drake, a senior defensive end from Portland, was the 2011 GNAC co-Defensive Player of the Year after recording 6.5 sacks and 13 tackles for loss.

Foss, a linebacker from West Albany High, recorded 4.5 sacks and 11 tackles for loss during his junior campaign in 2011 and was also an all-GNAC first-team selection.
